Hello! My name is Corbyn LaMar, and I’m a Technical Designer and Gameplay Programmer.
My journey in the world of games began long before I learned to code. Growing up, I moved through four different states, and games not only served as a way to pass the time but were a vital link to staying in touch with old friends and making new ones. Whether it was a late-night gaming session with childhood friends or bonding over a new release, I discovered that games had a unique power to create connections.
This feeling of connection, of shared human experiences, is what ultimately drew me to game development and studying computer science and game design at DigiPen Institute of Technology. At the heart of my work is a commitment to creating games that bring people together, forging connections, telling stories, and creating unique experiences for players.
My approach to development is guided by a few core principles:
I love collaborating closely with colleagues across disciplines. Whether it’s refining a pipeline with artists and designers, reviewing code with other programmers, or bringing all the elements together in the final stages, I thrive in the teamwork that makes great games possible. I focus on building technical solutions for creative ideas, bridging code and design so every system not only works but enhances the player’s experience.
When I’m not working, I’m the friend rallying everyone for a night of games, grabbing a group to go bowling, shuffling up for a game of Magic: The Gathering Commander, or diving into a D&D campaign. Whether in games or in real life, those shared moments are what I value most, and they’re what I aim to create in my work.
I’m driven by the principle of giving back to the community that inspired me. I make games and tools that bring people together and inspire them to create. Just as the games I played growing up sparked my own passion, I hope to create something that ignites that spark in others.
